I’m really not the kind of girl that likes watching kissing movies, or chick flicks with best friends or sisters dancing around, crying and having deep, long conversations about the boring events in their lives.
I’d rather have someone hammer kabob skewers up my nostrils.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for TV shows and movies with chicks. I’d just prefer to see them beating the shit out of someone or something.
1. Aeryn Sun – Farscape
Okay, so she’s not exactly the nicest person. Technically, she’s not even human. But, she’s really not so bad once you get to know her.
2. Sara Pezzini – Witchblade
Not quite as scantily clad as her comic book counterpart, but still just as cool.
3. Aeon Flux
Well, the flesh and blood persona of Aeon Flux isn’t quite the same as watching the animated version, but it’s still fun.
4. Lara Croft – Tomb Raider
Yeah, yeah…I know she’s not Indy. So what?
5. Lt. Kara Thrace, a.k.a. “Starbuck” – Battlestar Galactica
Cigar smoking, heavy drinking, ass kicking, Cylon killing, back-talking badass. No doubt about it. She’s a real woman.
6. Beatrix Kiddo/The Bride/Black Mamba – Kill Bill
Okay, the movie was kind of silly. But, it was fun to watch a chick waving a katana around for a change.
7. Sarah Connor – Terminator 2
Love the new series, but the new Sarah Connor sucks. No way can that whiny chick from 300 compare to this.
8. Alice – Resident Evil
Probably the only movies where Milla Jovovich doesn’t annoy me. I guess she just can’t be this cool all the time.
9. Trinity – The Matrix
You know, she really makes kicking people in the face look like a lot of fun.
10. Ellen Ripley – Alien
Seriously, this one was a no-brainer.
11. Wonder Woman
I’m anxious to see who the new Wonder Woman will be if they ever get around to finally making that damn movie. Whoever it ends up being, those are some mighty big red boots to fill.
12. Zoe Washburn – Firefly
It’s to the point now where whenever I see Gina Torres, I just expect her to go all warrior woman on someone. After her stint on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Cleopatra 2525 and Firefly, I’m almost disappointed when she’s not playing a role that requires her to deliver a beating.
13. Xena
Nobody beats Xena. Nobody. She has many skills. I think I have a crush on her.
I bet you’re wondering where Buffy is, right? Well, she didn’t make my cut. Why? Look, I know that she’s tough and she’s a slayer and all of that blah, blah…but, come on – that Sarah Michelle Gellar is one irritating broad.

Great 13! What kick-ass beautiful women.
I love your blog, BTW. Just stumbled upon it, what an amazing experience living in Paris!
A great and empowering post!
This was different. I hadn’t realized so women were portrayed as such strong characters. Good job.
Great list. Zoe is my favorite.
I like your list. I liked Michelle Pfieffer (sp) as Catwoman too. Not sure if she would have made the list when she was only a side character in one movie. The other Catwomen types were not as good or interesting.
I love this list!!!!
I’m with you on Xena, Alice, Ripley, damn all of them! But especially Sarah Connor. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by too.
Lovely list of kick-ass babes! Zoe from Firefly was just awesome. I’m always rooting for tv and movies to have strong female role models.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy TT.
ooh great list! I’m a wonder woman fan myself!
I am SO with you here! Love it. I don’t get TV so I’m not all that up on the TV chicks, but the movies, YES! Have you seen Sin City? There are some great, powerful, gunslinging chick in that movie, too!
Laura Croft is my favorite. What a woman and I love her techno gadgets.
I laughed, I cried, both out loud.
Kick ass women for the win!
This is a cool list – I wish I looked half as good as these women do!!!
Happy TT!
Some of my fave moovies are listed here. Great post.
my 13 is up
Nice list of ass-kicking females. The “Wonder Woman” movie has been in the talking stages for so long that Sandra Bullock was once one of the actresses considered for the role. If and when it does get made, I hope that they cast Lynda Carter and Debra Winger (who played Wonder Woman’s younger sister on the TV show) in cameo roles.
No, I wasn’t wondering where Buffy was! In fact, I had forgotten all about her. That’s an interesting list. The only one I have seen is Ripley in the first Alien film. But then I adore Sigourney Weaver.
I have no objection to women beating the shit out of someone, but that sometimes means that someone tries to beat the shit out of them, and I just can’t handle that. I can’t bring myself to watch it.
